IPD Management
Admissions, casualty, procedures and discharge outcomes.
Register patients fast, issue daily tokens by department, gender and room, spread patients across consultation rooms and call them on waiting-hall displays, all connected to one patient record.
In daily use at Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital since 2024
An OPD management system runs the out-patient department from the registration counter to the consultation room. It captures the patient once, assigns the department and doctor, and manages the queue so patients know when it is their turn.
Swastik HMS was built for OPDs where several hundred patients arrive before 9 am. Registration is keyboard-first, tokens are issued automatically, and waiting halls show the current token on any screen with a browser.
Two connected modules: patient registration and the OPD token queue.
Registration is where every patient record starts. Counter staff capture the patient once, assign the department and doctor, and the registration number follows the patient into the laboratory, radiology, wards, medicine stores and record room.
Every patient gets a registration number and UHID, with a field for their ABHA number.
Name, guardian, age in years, months and days, gender, mobile, address, district, police station, state and PIN code.
Choose the department and the doctor list narrows to the doctors of that department.
Record refer-in and refer-out with the referring facility, and register revisits against the existing record.
Mark Red Card, RB case and free patients so they are left out of fee totals automatically.
Print the registration slip straight from the browser on any printer.
Busy OPDs run on tokens instead of shouted names. Tokens are issued per day, department, gender and room, and waiting halls show the current token on any screen that can open a web page.
Token numbers start again every day and are issued per department, gender and room.
Patients are spread across a department’s consultation rooms automatically, so no single room is overloaded.
Call the next token, jump to a specific token, set the batch size and mark token status from one screen.
Show a whole department or a single room on a TV. The display refreshes by itself every few seconds.
Administrators define rooms for each department and see every room’s queue at a glance.
Queue operators only see and control the queue of their own department.
The counter registers the patient, or the patient uses ABDM Scan & Share from their phone.
Department and doctor are assigned and the OPD slip is printed.
A daily token is issued for the department, gender and room.
The operator calls the token and the waiting-hall display shows it.
Patients are seen in order, spread across the department’s rooms.
Tests, medicines, admission or a revisit continue on the same record.
Government OPDs often run separate queues by gender and spread each department across several consultation rooms. Managed by hand, some rooms overflow while others wait. Swastik HMS issues tokens per department, gender and room, and rotates patients across rooms automatically. Queue operators control only their own department’s queue. Read more in our guide to OPD queue management.
With ABDM integration, the counter can create or verify a patient’s ABHA, and patients who already have one can register with Scan & Share and receive a token number. See ABHA at the registration counter.
Swastik HMS is integrated with ABDM for milestone M1 (ABHA) and milestone M2 (Health Information Provider): ABHA at the counter, automatic care contexts for visits, admissions and reports, and consent-based sharing of encrypted FHIR records.
Create and verify ABHA numbers, log patients in with ABHA, and register them with Scan & Share.
Visits, admissions and reports become records patients link to their ABHA and share with consent.
Doctors linked to the Health Professional Registry and the facility to the Health Facility Registry.
Keyboard-first registration keeps the morning queue moving.
Patients wait seated and watch the display instead of crowding doors.
Room rotation spreads patients so no room is overloaded.
Exempt categories are left out of fee totals automatically.
Department, operator and location reports without counting pages.
ABHA creation and Scan & Share at the counter.
Admissions, casualty, procedures and discharge outcomes.
Lab registration, structured results and online reports.
Batch-level stock, expiry reports and patient-wise issues.
ABHA (M1) and Health Information Provider (M2).
